Connecting your AI assistant to Bigly

Opening Connect your AI agent, picking a client, connecting Claude or ChatGPT by signing in, generating a token for Claude Code or Cursor, starting the guided setup, and disconnecting apps or revoking tokens.

The Connect your AI agent screen gets your AI assistant talking to Bigly through the Bigly MCP. Once connected, you can ask your assistant to review and change your AI agent's setup in plain language. For what the MCP can do, see Using Bigly with your AI assistant.

There are two ways to connect:

  • Claude and ChatGPT connect with a sign-in. You don't need a token.
  • Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and other MCP clients use an access token you generate on this screen.

Before you start

  • The MCP must be turned on for your account. If it isn't, the screen says so. Contact support to turn it on.
  • Your role needs MCP access. If the screen says you don't have permission to manage access tokens, ask an admin on your account. See Team members.

Open the screen

Go to AI › Connect your AI agent. Under Set up your AI agent, pick your client from the tabs. The steps change to match it.

AI › Connect your AI agent with the client tabs (ChatGPT, Claude (web, desktop & mobile), Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI, Cursor and more), the numbered setup steps for the selected client, and the Connected apps and Your access tokens tables below.

Connect Claude

  1. Select Claude (web, desktop & mobile).
  2. Click Add to Claude. Claude opens with the name and address already filled in. Click Add, then Connect. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner can click Add for my organization (Team/Enterprise Owners) instead, and members then click Connect.
  3. Sign in to Bigly when asked, choose this workspace and click Allow.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. Select ChatGPT and click Open ChatGPT.
  2. In ChatGPT, click + and choose to add a custom MCP server. Enter the name and URL shown on the Bigly screen, set authentication to OAuth, and leave the client ID and secret empty.
  3. Sign in to Bigly when asked, choose this workspace and click Allow.

Connect Claude Code, Cursor and other tools

  1. Select your client.
  2. Type a Token name, such as my-laptop, and click Generate token.
  3. Copy the token straight away. It's shown only once.
  4. Follow the numbered steps. The command or settings block already contains your token. Click the copy icon and paste it where the step says.
  5. If a Verify the connection step is shown, run it. You should see bigly listed as connected.
Treat tokens like passwords

Anyone with the token can use the MCP as you. Don't share it or paste it into documents. If a token leaks, revoke it (see below) and generate a new one.

Start the guided setup

For clients that show a Start the guided setup step, copy that text and paste it into your assistant. It reads Bigly's onboarding guide and asks you what it needs before changing anything. See Onboarding guide.

Manage connections and tokens

  • Connected apps lists Claude and ChatGPT connections, with when each was connected and last used. Click disconnect to remove one.
  • Your access tokens lists the tokens you've generated, with when each was created and last used. Click revoke to stop a token working.

Troubleshooting

The screen says the MCP isn't enabled. Contact support to turn it on for your account.

The assistant connects but can't change some settings. Each area has its own read and update permissions. Ask an admin to check your role. See Connecting through the MCP.

I lost my token. Tokens can't be shown again. Revoke the old one and generate a new one.
