Allowed ZIP codes
Limit AI calls to contacts in the ZIP codes you serve, and make sure your contacts' ZIP codes are complete so they aren't skipped.
What the allowed ZIP code list does, why contacts without a ZIP are skipped when it is on, asking the Bigly team to set or change the list, fixing missing ZIP codes, and reading the ZIP warnings before a blast starts.
The allowed ZIP codes list limits your AI calls to contacts in specific ZIP codes. Use it when you can only serve certain areas, are licensed only in some places, or want a campaign to stay inside your service area.
- No list (the default): all ZIP codes are allowed.
- With a list: the AI agent only calls contacts whose ZIP code is on the list. Everyone else is skipped, including contacts with no ZIP code at all.
In the app, the list is set up by your Bigly account team: contact support to add, change or remove it. If you use the Bigly MCP, you can also change it yourself from your AI assistant.

Before you start
- Make sure your contacts have ZIP codes. Map the ZIP column when you import contacts, or edit them on the contact's page.
- Prepare your list of 5-digit US ZIP codes.
Ask for a ZIP code list
- Contact support and send the ZIP codes you want to allow, separated by commas, for example
90210, 10001, 60601. - Tell them if the list should replace your current one or be added to it.
Only US 5-digit ZIP codes can be used. Extra characters are removed, so 90210-1234 becomes 90210. Entries that don't contain five digits are rejected.
Change the list with your AI assistant
If your account uses the Bigly MCP and your role can update AI settings, ask your assistant, for example Only call zip codes 30301, 30302 and 30303. It shows you a preview of the new list, and nothing changes until you confirm. One invalid entry stops the whole change. See AI settings through the MCP.
Check your contacts before a campaign
When you start an AI blast on the Calls page, Bigly checks the call list's ZIP codes:
| What Bigly finds | What you see |
|---|---|
| Half or more of the contacts have no ZIP code | A red error. You can't start until you fix it. |
| Some contacts have no ZIP code | A yellow warning, such as 12% of ZIPs are missing. You can still start. |
| Half or more of the contacts with a ZIP code are outside your allowed list | A red error. |
| Some contacts are outside your allowed list | A yellow warning. |
Contacts skipped because of their ZIP code are recorded as blocked, so you can see them in your call statistics.
Fix missing ZIP codes
- For new imports: map your file's ZIP or postal code column to the ZIP field. See Importing contacts.
- For existing contacts: open the contact and add the ZIP code to their location, or re-import the list with the ZIP column mapped.
ZIP codes are stored as 5 digits. Entries with fewer than five digits, or 00000, are not accepted.
Common questions
Do changes apply straight away? Yes. Calls already waiting to go out use the new list when they're placed.
Does the list affect texts or calls I make myself? The allowed ZIP code list applies to AI calls.
Can I block specific ZIP codes instead? The list only allows ZIP codes; it can't exclude them. To keep one campaign inside an area, use the State and City filters when you build its audience.
