Test calls
Call your own phone with the AI agent, then review the recording, transcript and captured answers.
Place a test call from the Voice Prompt tab using a chosen intro, answer it, then open Test Calls to play the recording, read the transcript and check the captured answers.
Before the AI agent calls real leads, call yourself. A test call uses your current voice prompt, the intro you pick and your settings, exactly as a real call would. The only difference is that the agent uses the name you type instead of a contact's name.
The Test Calls tab then lists every test call with its recording, transcript and the answers the agent captured for each qualifying question.
AI › Teach Your Bot › Test Calls listing two test calls, each with the From number, date and time, a play button, the transcript text, and Question's Attribute / Answer pairs below.
Before you start
- Save your voice prompt and intros. Test calls use what's saved, not unsaved edits.
- Have a phone you can answer.
Place a test call
- Go to AI › Teach Your Bot › Voice Prompt.
- In the right-hand column, open Test Call.
- Enter a Name. The agent greets you with this name.
- Enter your Phone Number in international format, for example
+15551234567. - Under Intros, choose the intro you want to test.
- Leave Livekit Version and Sip Provider as they are unless support asks you to change them.
- Click Test Call. A message under the button confirms the call was placed, or explains what went wrong.
- Answer your phone and talk to the agent as a lead would. Try a yes path, a no path and an off-script question.
The Test Call section on the Voice Prompt tab with Name, Phone Number, Livekit Version, Sip Provider and Intros filled in, and the green Test Call button.
Review the results
- Go to AI › Teach Your Bot › Test Calls.
- Find your call by its date and time. Each entry shows:
- From: the number the agent called from.
- The date and time of the call.
- A play button. Click it to open the recording in a new browser tab.
- The transcript of the conversation.
- Each Question's Attribute with the Answer the agent recorded.
- Compare the answers with what you said. If an answer is wrong or missing, adjust the question's expected answer in the intro, or the wording of the question.
What to check on every test
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Opening | The agent uses the right name and company, and no placeholder is read out loud. |
| Questions | Every question is asked, in order. |
| Answers | Each answer appears under the right attribute name. |
| Transfer or end | The agent transfers or ends the call when your script says it should. |
| Voice and pace | The voice, speed and pauses sound natural. Adjust them on the Voice Prompt tab. |
Common questions
Can I test an inbound call? Call the number set in an intro's Select Number from your own phone. Inbound calls aren't placed from the Test Call panel.
Can I preview the script without making a call? Yes, through the Bigly MCP. Ask your AI assistant to preview the call context for an intro. It shows the full assembled script, with every placeholder filled in, without dialling. See Preview the call script.
Troubleshooting
The call didn't come through. Check the phone number format, including the + and country code, and read the message under the Test Call button.
The agent used old wording. Click Save Assistant on the Voice Prompt tab and Save on the intro, then call again.
A question was skipped. The intro text is probably missing that question's {Q#} placeholder. See Intros.
