Reference material
The reference documents Bigly gives your AI assistant, such as the voice and model catalog, the settings reference and the prompting guide, and how to use them.
Ask the assistant to list the available voices, explain one setting, and check a draft intro against the prompting guide, showing how it uses Bigly's reference material.
Besides the tools that read and change your setup, the Bigly MCP gives your AI assistant a set of reference documents (MCP calls them resources). They're read-only. They hold the catalogs, rules and writing advice the assistant needs to turn a plain request, like "use a Spanish voice", into the exact setting Bigly expects.
You rarely need to open them yourself. The assistant reads them when it needs to. You can also ask it to look something up.
Before you start
- Connect your AI assistant. Reference material needs MCP access only.
- None of these documents contain your contacts, leads or call recordings.
The reference documents
| Document | Address | What's in it |
|---|---|---|
| AI model and voice catalog | bigly://catalog/models | Every language model, voice and speech-to-text model you can choose. |
| Settings reference | bigly://reference/settings | Every AI setting the assistant can change, with allowed values, limits and defaults. It never shows your own values. |
| One setting | bigly://reference/settings/ + the setting name | One setting in detail, plus the settings that usually change with it. |
| Glossary | bigly://reference/glossary | How AI calling works: compliance guard rails, calling hours, follow-up types, block reasons and rules for settings that depend on each other. |
| Placeholders | bigly://reference/placeholders | The {placeholder} words you can use in prompts, opening messages and intros, plus the names of your prompt variables. |
| Prompt anatomy | bigly://reference/prompt-anatomy | The structure a working voice prompt and intro need, the after-hours intro, and the readiness checklist before AI calling is turned on. |
| Your AI setup | bigly://tenant/ai-config | A one-shot summary of your current AI setup. Secrets are hidden. |
| Prompting guide | bigly://prompting/skill | Bigly's current advice on writing voice prompts and intros. |
| Prompting guide index | bigly://prompting/index | A list of every page in the prompting guide. |
| Prompting guide pages | bigly://prompting/ + section and page | One page of the prompting guide, such as a reference or an example. |
A Claude conversation where the user asks for Spanish voices and the assistant lists matching voices from the Bigly catalog with their names.
Using them
Just ask. The assistant knows which document to read.
List the female voices Bigly offers in Spanish. What does the timezone setting affect, and which settings change with it? Which placeholders can I use in an intro?
Placeholders and prompt variables. The placeholders list shows the names of your prompt variables only if your role can view them. Their values are never shown here. To see or change values, see Prompt variables.
Your AI setup. Each section of the setup summary appears only if your role can view that area. Others show as not available rather than failing.
The prompting guide is kept up to date by Bigly. The assistant reads the current version each time, so its advice on prompts and intros improves without you doing anything. The guide explains how to write prompts and intros. The prompt anatomy explains what Bigly does with them. When the two seem to differ, the prompt anatomy wins for platform behavior.
Check our voice prompt against the Bigly prompting guide and prompt anatomy, and suggest improvements. Don't change anything yet.
Opening a document yourself
Some assistants let you attach an MCP resource to your message directly. In Claude Code, for example, you can type @ and pick a Bigly document.
Common questions
Can the assistant change these documents? No. They're read-only reference material.
Why does the setup summary say a section isn't available? Your role can't view that area. Ask an admin.
